Katherine Ryan says she spoils her kids so they have high standards in life

Katherine Ryan has said she spoils her kids so she they have high standards in life.
The comedian, 41, was speaking on Paloma Faith’s Mad, Sad & Bad podcast and said she doesn’t “raise humble children”, rather preferring to spoil them to a life of luxury.
Ryan has three kids - Fred, three, daughter Fenna, two, with her husband Bobby Kootstra, and 15-year-old Violet, who she has from a previous relationship.
“I know that being a nepo baby can backfire, a lot of these children really struggle to ascend to what their parents have achieved and that can be a terrible feeling,” she said.

“And I think a lot of celebrity kids are really messed up.
“However, I've decided to spoil my daughter as much as I can and give her really extravagant Valentine’s, I like fly her wherever she wants to go, I get her VIP tickets to anything that I can, because then I feel like she won't be impressed by someone's dusty son down the line.”
On the podcast, Ryan - who is now happily married to childhood sweetheart Bobby Kootstra - also shared how she respected women who are single mothers.
“I admire women who are smart enough and centered enough to go it alone, because I've been a single mom and now I've been married for five years, and I love my husband, but I really like the independence of being a single mom as well,” she said.
Last month, Ryan revealed she was diagnosed with cancer for a second time after she felt suspicious of a mole on her arm.
The 41-year-old said she initially had her suspicions of melanoma given the all-clear by a doctor who had worked in the NHS, before going on to a private clinic, which also dismissed her claims, before a test revealed the mole was cancerous.
Ryan was previously diagnosed with stage two melanoma in her 20s, after finding an irregular mole on her leg, which was removed.
Speaking about her recent diagnosis on her Telling Everybody Everything podcast, she explained: “The only reason that they agreed to remove it was because I went to a fancy, private place in South Kensington, and I paid them a grand.”

Ryan later confirmed she had the mole removed in a post on TikTok, in which she showed pictures of it and urged others to get their moles checked.
The NHS says melanoma is a type of skin cancer, which can spread to other areas of the body, it says a new mole or a change in an existing mole can be a symptom of the condition.
