Keith Richards has brain surgery

Keith Richards has had an operation to relieve a blood clot on his brain after he fell out of a tree while on holiday in Fiji.

The 62-year-old guitarist was today recuperating in New Zealand after being discharged from hospital.

Last week a spokeswoman for the Rolling Stones said that Richards only had mild concussion and would not need surgery.

The New Zealand Herald reported that his condition was "much more serious than previously reported".
