Miriam Margolyes has issued a warning to those considering cheating on their partners after admitting to being unfaithful herself in the past.
The actress and authour, 82, got candid about her love life while speaking to Gyles Brandreth on his Rosebud podcast.
During the chat, the former MP asked the Harry Potter star about the importance of being faithful to your loved one.
âWell, I believe that we should be,â Margolyes replied. âI wasnât always. But I am now.â
She has been in a long-term relationship with Heather Sutherland since 1968.
Margolyes also spoke about the first time she met Sutherland and how for her it was a case of love at first sight.
Gyles asked her: âWhat was the first moment you set eyes on your life partner?â
âWe arranged to meet at the cinema and it was The Charge of the Light Brigade,â she said. âAnd I looked at her and I thought, youâre the one. You are. Thatâs what I want for the rest of my life.â
âThe moment you saw her?â repeated a shocked Brandreth.
âThe moment I saw her I had no doubt. And of course, she had not a clue,â she added. âShe was white haired. That was the key for me.â
The Oxford-born octogenarian concluded by advising that âyou shouldnât gamble with your happinessâ when you find the right person.
