A good game this. Barnard Castle's passing between forwards and backs gave them an edge but too many final passes went to ground.
Hartlepool were always prepared to attack from deep and regularly asked questions of the home defence.
Joe Clark, who scored two of Barnard Castle's six tries and Lee Dickson, a try scorer on his Ist XV debut, were outstanding as Rob Andrew's old school booked a trip to Yorkshire to face Ashville College, semi-finalists in the Vase last season.
