Big Apple will host Amir Khan's crunch date

Amir Khan will make his American debut on 15 May when he defends his WBA light-welterweight title against Paulie Malignaggi at New York's Madison Square Garden Theater.

Former IBF champion Malignaggi lost to Juan Diaz last year before avenging that defeat to put himself back into world title contention.

While the slick 29-year-old is a test for Khan, a lack of punching power makes him the underdog.
