Ben Whittaker had the perfect answer to months of criticism on Sunday night by stopping Liam Cameron with a thunderous second-round stoppage.

A rematch six months in the making after a controversial draw in Saudi Arabia, which saw both fighters fall over the ropes with Whittaker seen by some as edging towards a shock defeat.

What followed with months of suggestions that Whittaker pulled the stunt on purpose to call an end to a fight he was losing, an accusation he always denied and on Sunday night in Birmingham had the definitive response.

Met with boos during his ring walk, Whittaker enjoyed a fast start to the fight against the typically more reserved Cameron. One big right hook was the first landed in anger, and another quick jab had the first round in Whittaker's favour.

Whittaker was again on the front foot in the second and a little over four minutes of fight time had expired when he landed a right hook to Cameron's temple, which sent his opponent into the ropes. A vicious assault followed, double figures of punches landed without response before the referee called the bout.

An emotional Whittaker celebrated wildly before confronting Cameron's corner in unsavoury scenes. There was later an apology and then Whittaker raised Cameron's arm in the ring in a needed show of sportsmanship.

Earlier in the night, Frazer Clarke enjoyed a first-round stoppage against Ebenezer Tetteh, landed a devastating right to knock him down before finishing him off seconds later.

Sam Eggington beat Lee Cutler by unanimous decision to become the new WBC international silver super-welterweight champion after the fight was stopped in the eighth due to a cut under the former's eye.
