In the first game of the afternoon, Liverpool had moved top of the table with victory over Fulham at Anfield, but the match was not without controversy.

Fulham thought they were ahead but Alexander Mitrovic’s effort was wrongly ruled offside, only for Mohamed Salah to convert seconds later as Liverpool spring the counter attack.

Xherdan Shaqiri doubled Liverpool’s lead after the break, as Fulham succumbed to their sixth league defeat on the trot. They stay bottom of the table.

Chelsea maintained their unbeaten start to the season but were held at home to Everton, while Arsenal drew with Wolves at the Emirates.
