Mohamed Salah raced ahead in the battle for the Premier LeagueGolden Boot as the Liverpool forward put four past Watford.

The Egyptian, who had never scored a Premier League hat-trick until Saturday, opened the scoring early on and from there did not let up.

With Harry Kane sidelined having picked up an ankle injury at Bournemouth last weekend, Salah – who was level on 24 League goals with the Spurs man going into the weekend – saw his chance and seized it.

Kane is likely to return to training in April, missing at least two games following the international break, and should Salah continue in such form in front of goal, the England striker’s bid for a third successive Golden Boot could be on its knees.

Sergio Aguero, who himself bagged four in one league outing earlier this season, trails behind in third, three goals off Kane.
