Ole Gunnar Solskjaer oversaw his first win as permanent Manchester United manager at the weekend, kicking off his tenure in the perfect way.

But this is becoming a familiar fixture at Old Trafford, with the former striker transforming the atmosphere around the club and reigniting their season. It is no surprise Ed Woodward agreed to hand him a three-year contract last week.

Since Solskjaer was parachuted in following Mourinho's sacking almost four months ago, no club in the Premier League have taken more points than United.

Back then qualification hopes for next season's Champions League looked dead, but United now sit level on points with third-placed Tottenham having picked up 13 more points than Spurs over just 14 games. Even title-chasers Liverpool and Manchester City are not the form team of England top table.

The real work has certainly begun now a caretaker position has turned into the real thing, but United are in the best possible position to achieve their end-of-season goal.

Here is how the Premier League would look if the season started on December 19
