VAR: How the Premier League table would look without video referees

Through 120 Premier League games this season, one thing has remained a constant, looming threat.

A commentator making it through the opening 10 minutes of a game without mentioning Stockley Park is a near miracle nowadays, such has been the impact of the calamitous introduction of video assistant referees to the Premier League.

Club chiefs are today meeting the head of referees, Mike Riley, to demand answers and changes to the implementation of the technology in what is supposed to be the most competitive and entertaining division on the planet.

Some of those in attendance at this week's meeting will be more lenient than others, with Southampton, Leicester City and Crystal Palace all having earned a three point boost through VAR decisions after 12 matches each this season.

However, many have been incredulous over decisions which have gone against their side. Following a 1-1 draw at Tottenham ahead of the international break, which saw David McGoldrick's goal ruled out for a highly controversial offside decision against John Lundstram's 'big toe', Sheffield United manger Chris Wilder said: "I think we have to have a big look at it in the summer.

"I think it's here to stay, that's obvious. I think the amount of time it takes, the time it takes to sort out, we need to look at that. It changed the game which obviously is going to create debate."

The Blades have, according to research from bettingexpert, lost out on three points to VAR, while Wolves are four points worse off.

Here is how the League table would look if VAR had not been ruling over the games this season...
