Leon Smith up for Davis Cup challenge

Leon Smith was today handed the thankless task of captaining Britain's Davis Cup team.

Andy Murray's former coach takes over a squad, who suffered a humiliating defeat to Lithuania last month and will drop into the fourth tier of the competition if they lose to Turkey in July.

"This is a huge honour and an irresistible challenge for me," said Smith. "I know the players, and I know that together we can get Britain back to winning ways in the Davis Cup."
