Luke Donald has added another accolade to his long list after winning the Golf Writers Trophy for 2011.
The world No1, who topped the money lists in both America and Europe, took the most votes ahead of joint runners-up Darren Clarke and Rory McIlroy - both Major winners.
"For the golf writers to consider me as their player of the year means a lot," he said. "These are the people who really understand the sport."
