MCC insist The Hundred will still be âa recognisable form of cricketâ

The MCC have been reassured that The Hundred will still be âa recognisable form of cricketâ.
ECB commercial shief Sanjay Patel, who is in charge of rolling out the city-based competition that will launch in 2020, and his team have been developing the concept since it was first revealed in April and trial matches will take place in September to work out exact playing conditions.
MCC head of cricket John Stephenson said a presentation by Patel suggested âthe current thinking is 20 five-ball oversâ and that there could be âa maximum one substitute fielderâ, but would otherwise be normal cricket. âIf you modify the game too much, it ceases to look like cricket,â he added. âWhat we heard from Sanjay Patel was quite reassuring.â
