Sir Mo Farah and David Weir were among the victors at the 2017 London Anniversary Games.

London 2012 hero Weir was bidding farewell to the stadium where he won three gold medals five years ago, it was the last ever track race of his career.

Speaking after the winning the T54 800m, a clearly emotional Weir reflected on his career and the memories he had made in the Olympic Stadium

"It's hard to take it all in to be honest,” he told the BBC. “I just want to thank the crowd for supporting Paralympic sport for years.

"It's been a hard week but I want to thank everyone who has helped me in my car. The crowd were fantastic and it was something special for British Athletics to allow me to do that today.

"Racing in this stadium in 2012 was indescribable. I saw thousands of people screaming my name and I will never forget it until the day I die."

Elsewhere, Laura Muir set a new personal best in the Miles, but was ultimately pipped to the finish by Kenyan Hellen Obiri.

There were, however, also victories for Britain’s Chris O’Hare in the Men’s 1500m, Chijindu Ujah in the Men’s 100m, while Tom Bosworth (above) set a new world record as his won the walking mile race.

And Farah capped the day by winning the 3000m in front of the London crowd who will see him again next month at the world championships.

Speaking after the race, Farah said: "It was pretty amazing, thank you to the crowd," he says. "I love London, there's no place like home. I have to stay focused the next three weeks. I enjoy racing and not the other stuff.

"Other things don’t distract me. I’m only in control of my legs. Never will I fail a test.

"I run year after year with joy and there's not much more you can do.

"I love being on the podium, hearing the anthem and making people proud to be British. I love what I do and I’m good at what I do – you can’t worry about other stuff."
