Players Championship tee times & groups: Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and more in action on Thursday at TPC Sawgrass

After European Ryder Cup hero Francesco Molinari claimed a second career standard PGA Tour title in fine fashion at Bay Hill, attention turns to the unofficial ‘fifth major’ as the Florida swing continues with The Players Championship.

The action at TPC Sawgrass begins on Thursday, with the first groups heading out at 11.40am GMT. There is plenty to catch the eye early on, with one of Molinari’s teammates from Paris, Tyrell Hatton, heading out in the first group, with Londoner Matt Wallace tees of at The Players for the first time at midday.

Molinari himself will play alongside Tony Finau and Australia’s Jason Day, while defending champion Webb Simpson makes up one of the blockbuster groups alongside Masters champion Patrick Reed and 80-time PGA Tour winner, Tiger Woods.

Rory McIlroy, looking for his first Tour win on either side of the Atlantic since last year’s Arnold Palmer Invitational, his defence seeing him finish four shots of Molinari last week, plays alongside Phil Mickelson and Matt Kuchar for the first two days.
