The PS5 launch day is fast approaching and for those who are able to get their hands on a console through pre-orders, you’ll likely be wondering what games you can play on day one.
It’s one of the most important questions to ask for a few reasons. One of them being that which PS5 games are available to play on launch day might just influence your decision to buy.
If there’s no games you’re interested in right away, then you might end up wanting to hold off on the purchase. Fear not, fellow gamers. This list is here to guide you in which PS5 games you can play on the day of the console’s launch.
Which PS5 games can you play on launch day?
Keep in mind, that this is list is mostly exhaustive. For all intents and purposes, these are all of the games that Sony has confirmed will be playable on November 12 when the console is released.
Sony could always make more available. But the company hasn’t said as much. So it’s better to temper your expectations now. We’re also not including any of the free games that are part of the PS Plus Collection that Sony announced. Those will be available on day one as well though.
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Mile Morales
This is the follow-up to the smash hit exclusive Marvel’s Spider-Man that released on PS4.
Miles Morales is now the main hero of the story and this game features the same high-intensity action from the first game. But with better graphics (obviously), new parts of the city to explore, and a shorter campaign.
If you loved Marvel’s Spider-Man, you’ll love this too.

Demon’s Souls
This is likely to be a day one purchase for plenty of PS5 owners, and rightfully so.
The punishing combat and rich storied gameplay have been masterfully redone with new visuals to take advantage of the powerful hardware that the PS5 offers.
Demon’s Souls won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you enjoy the rewarding feeling you get from beating the challenging bosses and encounters that await you, then you can pick this up for day one.
Godfall
Godfall is going to be the day one purchase for anyone that wants the action and overall gameplay of a looter like Destiny 2.
This will be a bit different since it’s melee combat, but the gameplay style is similar. It’s also published by Gearbox, who makes the Borderlands series, so expect some small similarities in features.
Sackboy: A Big Adventure
This is the game for the Little Big Planet fans. The gameplay is not entirely the same but it does use the main character from that franchise, which is Sackboy.
It’s got more of a platformer gameplay style, and features levels filled with puzzles and things to explore. You may even meet some familiar faces during your adventure.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
The latest in the long-running Assassin’s Creed series, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla lets you take on the role of a Viking warrior.
Expect plenty of the familiar mechanics from earlier AC games but with the new theme and time period of when the Vikings started their expansion into other parts of Europe and England.
Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition
This is the same Devil May Cry 5 you know and love, but with loads of enhanced graphical options to boost the visuals from start to finish.
There’s also two new game modes included, called Turbo Mode which turns the action speed up to a much faster pace, and Legendary Dark Knight Mode, which sees many more enemies coming your way. The latter mode is the one you choose if you want an extreme challenge.

Destruction AllStars
This is basically all-out mayhem as it’s a battle against your opponents where you can fight each other with vehicles in a destruction derby-style setting.
You can get out of the vehicles and battle it out on foot too of course, but the real fun is taking each other out with your vehicle. Battles are held on crazy courses with all kinds of obstacles almost like a monster truck rally cranked up to 11.
There’s a pretty big roster of vehicles and a large cast of characters. The characters also have unique special abilities that you can unleash.
Astro’s Playroom
Think of this as part platformer game and part demo that is intended to get you acquainted with the new features of the DualSense controller.
It’s a game that’s being included inside the box with the PS5, so it’s one of the games that you can play on launch day. Assuming you get a console pre-ordered or you can find one to buy on launch day.
Fortnite
If you’re a fan of the battle royale genre and an avid player of Fortnite on PS4 or other platforms, you can add the PS5 to your list of places to play it.
This will be a day one launch title and available for free, so you’ll be able to download it from the PSN Store as soon as you get everything set up.
Observer: System Redux
This was recently announced by Bloober Team as being available on PS5 on launch day, which means it’s one of the games you can play right away.
This is a cyberpunk-themed psychological horror game, with plenty of twists and turns and likely some jump scare moments. If this isn’t your kind of game then go for one of the other awesome offerings that’ll be available.
Just Dance 2021
Feel the need to get up and dance? Just Dance 2021 is your game then. Ubisoft announced towards the end of the Summer that this would be launching on November 12 for PS5 and other platforms.
Retailer listings say December 31, but Ubisoft hasn’t announced any delays. So you should be able to get it day one.
Additional PS5 games to play on launch day
So far these were the only games we could find as announced/confirmed as being available to play on the PS5 on day one of the launch. Which is November 12.
We’ll be updating this list leading up to the launch if other games are confirmed to be available on launch day.
