bTunes, plays Android sweet music : Android Music App Review

App Name:BTunes by Brandon Ayers

Description:BTunes is a music player that has a similar layout to the iPhone music player and the iPod Touch music player. There are apps for both 1.6 (Cupcake) and 2.0 (Eclair) for 1.49.

How it works:BTunes is a nice audio player app. BTunes has an abundant amount of options in regard to playing music or other options like audio books or pod casts. You can easily set up any variety of playlists right in the app and operate the player in the app itself or from a handy widget from your homepage. The app is orientation aware so it plays flawlessly in portrait or landscape without interruption if orientation is changed.

It also allows for the Last.fm scrobbler (free app available on Market) which is a service that submits what you are listening to via Facebook or Twitter or other social media sites from Last.fm. So all your friends and family can now what you are listening to while you chat online. It has an embedded album art extractor so if you missing any artwork it will attempt to locate and add it. For me, it found 10 out 12 artists so quite a helpful feature. You can also make folders to add artwork as it has folder support.

Scrolling through the options and you will see there is a lot of choices to fine tune your listening experience. It has bluetooth or wired options, ability to bookmark audio books or pod casts and changing default tabs etc. If you have a lock screen it will show on your lock screen so you can pause it or change songs right from the lock screen.

Opinion:I have started to use my phone more as my mp3 player so I don’t lug around multiple gadgets to get the same effect and BTunes fits the bill. The multiple features like the player in the lock screen and the bookmarks for audio books features really sold me. Plus I haven’t had any lag issues as I take walks during work lunches and shifting from landscape to portrait views can cause other players to jump during a song.

Ratings :

  • Speed (5/5)– Making playlists or switching screens moves effortlessly.
  • Features (4/5) – Lots of options to tweak in the app.
  • Theme (4/5)– Nice and clean UI. I’m not familiar with Iphone/Ipods to know how similar it looks but it works.

Overall (4.5/5) – Good speed, enough options to satisfy most audiophiles, nice and easy theme makes this app well worth it.

Pro:

  • Lots of options to use.
  • Lock screen controls.
  • Easy UI for creating playlists and selecting music.

Cons:

  • An equalizer would be a plus.

Conclusion: Does it’s job and does it well. There are options I haven’t even had a chance to touch so this app has a lot to offer. Best buck fifty I have spent on an app.
