Exclusive: This is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7

This is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, expected to be announced in July 2025.

Thanks to Onleaks, we are able to share the first set of CADs showing the new Galaxy Z Fold 7. It does also have some pretty big changes this year, compared to previous Galaxy Z Folds. Perhaps the biggest change is going to be the thickness. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be just 4.5mm thick when unfolded, and 9.5mm when folded (including the camera bump, closer to 9mm without it). That makes it about 1.1mm thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, and 0.4mm thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6 SE. However, that’s still not quite enough to make it the thinnest book-style foldable, as the OPPO Find N5 is 4.2mm and the HONOR Magic V3 is 4.4mm.

It will also sport about a 8.2-inch inner display, and a 6.5-inch outer display. That would be a larger display on both fronts, and should make it the largest inner display on a book-style foldable. Currently, that title is held by the OPPO Find N5 at 8.12-inches.

The dimensions of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 are about 158.4 x 143.1 x 4.5mm which means that the front display should be even wider than last year. Samsung has really been struggling with making their outer display wide enough to be usable, since the first Galaxy Fold in 2019. But with each iteration the Galaxy Z Fold gets a tiny bit wider. We don’t yet know the aspect ratio for the front display, but the dimensions put it at roughly 11mm wider unfolded than the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, 4400mAh capacity battery

Internally, we are expecting the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy to be powering the Galaxy Z Fold 7, the same chip that is inside the Galaxy S25 series. It is possible that Samsung could opt for the 7-core version, which OPPO used in the Find N5, to help with thermals. There is talk of Samsung using an Exynos 2500 in some regions, but we feel that is unlikely, due to all of the customization Samsung has done with Qualcomm for the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy.

Sadly, we are also expecting the Galaxy Z Fold 7 to sport the same 4,400mAh capacity battery, as the last few generations. However, with the great improvements in battery life we’ve seen with the Galaxy S25 series earlier this year, we’re expecting some pretty good battery life here.

The cameras should get a nice upgrade however, with a 200-megapixel primary sensor. This was one of the big upgrades that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 SE got when it debuted in Korea shortly after the Galaxy Z Fold 6. We are also expecting to see the same 12-megapixel ultrawide and 10-megapixel telephoto cameras on the back. With the front display housing a 10-megapixel selfie camera, and a 4-megapixel under-display camera on the inner display.

Samsung typically launches these phones about a week earlier every year. However, since the Galaxy S25 series did launch a little over a week later this year, we could see Samsung doing the same with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (and Flip 7). We’re still expecting a mid-July launch, however.
