Orange Bring New Android Phone to UK
Vodafone and T-Mobile have known how much we love Android, here in the UK, for some time, but not so Orange. Despite having merged with T-Mobile at the beginning of this month, both companies have deliberately maintained their separate identities and Orange are the now last of the major UK carriers to jump onto the Android bandwagon. The new phone is has the codename Project JAL (not Project PAL as some sites have reported) although Orange will more likely be given a urban moniker as they did with their Rio and Boston models.
South Korea to get Samsung Galaxy S Upgrade Soon
The most switched on nation on the planet will soon be able to get the much awaited Android 2.2 upgrade for the Galaxy S (known as the rather less snappy Galaxy M110S in Seoul). Samsung will be the latest to announce the Froyo roll out and it should mean the rest of us won’t have to hold our breaths for much longer.
Budget Android Phone Launching in France
The OT-980 is a nice little Android phone that is due to be launched soon in France by Alcatel, the inventors of ADSL. It has its own slide-down keyboard which oddly features a QWERTY layout as opposed to the preferred AZERTY format, normally used in France.
With only 2.8 inches of low-density screen estate and a puny 2 Mpx camera, this is not a flashy phone but it would make a good first smartphone for someone on a budget (and who isn’t?) because it should retail for around €200 ($250).
