Split Personalities
Taiwanese electronics corporation Acer plan to announce another dual boot netbook like their Inspire One D250. Like its fore bearer, the Inspire One AOD255 will also dual boot Windows XP but will have Android 2.1 as opposed to 1.6. If you don’t want to travel to Taiwan or wait until next month, the clever boys at xda developers will show you how to do the same thing on any laptop here. I tried it on my HP Envy and I have to say, Android’s paired down browser runs like the wind with 2.93GHz of CPU under its skirts.
HTC Sync for Wildfire
I don’t use Outlook, it looks too complicated for an email client and besides, no one ever writes to me. If you have an HTC phone and do not find yourself intellectually challenged by Outlook then HTC Sync is a great tool particularly if you have an MS Exchange account, It does exactly what you would imagine and does it well, but has not been available for all HTC handsets due to the technical intricacies of different models. The HTC Wildfire has, until now, been one of the models to miss out but now Wildfire owners can keep their MS contacts synchronised too. Users will have to take down their serial number before they start as the software is very machine specific. The software is available from HTC’s own site.
That’s a lot of texts
The wonderful HTC Galaxy S is now available from 3UK on a range of monthly contracts including one that will let you send a text every eleven minutes, day and night – that’s 5000 texts a month for forty quid (sixty-four bucks).
New phone down under
Swiss based technology giant Garmin and Chinese electronics firm Asus are teaming up with Australian wireless operator Optus to bring the A50 Android phone (pictured) to Australian customers. The A50 runs Android 1.6 and has a 600MHz CPU but redeems itself by giving users access to the brilliant Optus Games Store.
Just in…
For some HTC desire owners, the wait for Android Froyo (OS 2.2) is over. According to HTC European Director Mark Moons who tweeted the news late last night. The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg are first in line and we’ll tell you more as we get it.
