3G+ Is Now Live On SaskTel

Today is the day the people of Saskatchewan now have the power and speed of the 3G+ network brought to you by SaskTel. Their website boasts the 3G+ network provides users with mobile browsing speeds 4 times faster than the old CDMA network, and the ability to simultaneously access emails and surf the web while talking on the phone.

SaskTel’s 3G+ phone lineup is small at the moment, and includes a Blackberry Bold 9700, the Blackberry Pearl 9100, the Nokia 6350, the Nokia 7230, with plans to include the Android-based Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant by the end of August.  Prices for the two Blackberry phones start at $50 for the 9100 with a three year contract that includes voice and data, and the simcard needed to activate the phones will cost $10.

Coverage of the 3G+ network includes: Regina, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, Weyburn, Yorkton, Swift Current, Prince Albert, North Battleford, Buffalo Pound, White City, Melville, Dalmeny, Martensville, Warman, Hepburn, Waldheim and most of the connecting highways. Full coverage, similar to that provided by the CDMA network, will be available by the end of 2011.
