Recently we asked, where are the tablets? It seems that the WeTab from Germany is coming soon. This device is not quite an iPad clone, as it has very different curves, and features and 11.6 inch screen. It will also have two USB host ports, flash, Adobe AIR, and Linux capability (dual booting with Android?).
There will be two models- one with 16 GB storage and just WiFi, and one with 32 GB storage, HD playback, and 3G. These will cost about $575 and $880 respectively. It seems to feature a 1.66 GHz processor, but no one knows what type.
Really though, they are not just selling a tablet but services as well. They have set up an “ePublishing Open Platform” called WeMagazine, and they have deals with content providers. There is also WeFind for “current, context-sensitive and searchable online content.”
The WeTablet is a collaboration of German telecom neofonie and 4tiitoo. It will be released in Germany next month with pre-orders going on now. It will launch to several other countries after a successful German launch.
Christian Soult, their press contact, released a German language press release. You can use Google Translate to check it out.
