DROID X Froyo Soon? Hidden PDF Says Maybe.

If you’re a Motorola DROID X owner who hasn’t tried installing Android 2.2 (Froyo) unofficially, you’re no doubt waiting for that “late summer 2010” promised upgrade to the latest and greatest operating system. DroidLife found something interesting that may suggest the upgrade really is in the works.

The above image (click for larger view) is a “hidden document” sent from Verizon’s DROID Does website.  The PDF, created on September 10th, clearly mentions Froyo in the same context as DROID X, but the link given sends you to Verizon’s DROID X software update support page. And here’s what’s in that PDF now:

This is Android OS 2.1 (Eclair), with the OTA upgrade sent out not long after the phone launched in July.  But the image above suggests Verizon is getting for the Big Day, and that when it happens, the 2.2 document will be swapped into the link.  There is a Software Upgrade link on the DROID Does website, but it merely takes you to the same Verizon support link in question.

Only nine days of summer left, Motorola!
