In a ChangeWave survey of 1,602 corporate IT buyers, it was revealed that Google Android has been on the rise in the Corporate world. In a matter of 9 months, Android use has jumped from 3% to 16% with the biggest jump being from May 2010 to August 2010 of 6 points.
Even with Blackberry RIM OS leading the way, RIM has seen a 3 point decrease, as well as Windows Mobile, with a 1 point decrease. In comparison to the other major Smart Phone Operating Systems, Android has seen a dramatic rise, while the other systems have remained relatively the same.
When looking specifically at Android in the corporate world, HTC and Motorola are the top two picks. Both companies remained steady when Android was first introduced in 2008, but after the release of Droid in 2009, Motorola jumped dramatically from 5% to 11% and has been growing to a max of 15%. HTC has been steadily gaining buyers and is currently at a max of 16%.
It certainly speaks volumes when an OS, more popularized by being a developer’s dream phone, has been gaining in the corporate market place, among other things. Android has been exponentially increasing in all aspects, including the market, where apps have grown from 10,000 apps to about 80,000 apps in just two months.
