The T-Mobile G2 is getting close to launch and that means pre-launch deals to whet your appetite! BestBuy announced that you could pre-order the device starting September 10, and that it would launch October 6. The BestBuy pre-order will cost you $199.99 for a two year contract.
Radio Shack on the other hand, is launching this awesome device for $149.99 (with a $50 instant rebate). We don’t yet know T-Mobile’s own pricing details, but the unsubsidized price is $500.
Is it me or are the high-end handsets getting cheaper? Vibrant and Captivate launched at $200 but only stayed there for about a week, and you can now find a Vibrant in a Buy One Get One at T-Mobile for the same price or at our online store for only $100. The unsubsidized price is cheaper too. If we think of the Nexus One as the gold standard of unsubsidized phones, it launched at $529. This has much newer tech, a bigger screen, and a QWERTY keyboard, but is still less. If you want to sign up for a pre-orders at BestBuy, I recommend going in to one of their stores. As for RadioShack, you now know as much as we do, so the when is still a question.
