10,000 Google TV Devices Being Given Away

Google TV wants websites and apps to look good on the television, and apps to behave when living large.  So they’re giving away Google TV devices to app and web developers and to make sure there will be plenty of optimized big-screen ready content in time for a Google TV holiday.

The fun began when all 3,000 attendees at the Adobe MAX conference were told each and every one of them was receiving a Logitech Revue (or other Google TV device such as a Sony Google-capable television or Blu-Ray player).  Talk about a swag bag!  When I go to conferences I’m lucky if I can pick up one of those flashing-LED buttons with a dorky logo.

Want to be one of the other 7,000 recipients?  If you’re part of the Google Code community, then Google will be selecting some of you.  And if your company does web development, either for end users or providers, some of your firms may be receiving a Google TV device as well.  You can sign up right here for their Web TV Developer Promotion.  Those selected will receive a Logitech Revue, and it looks like they’ll be reading those entries.

Meanwhile, Google has plenty of advice on how to develop better content for the supersized monitor.  There’s documentation, of course, and a developer forum to make sure your website isn’t an inch across someone’s ten foot screen.

So if you regret missing that Adobe conference, it still isn’t too late to get yourself a freebie from Google!
