Adobe Air Launching Officially on October 8th!

About two weeks ago rumors started to surface about Adobe launching its Air run-time on the Android Market. According to TalkAndroid Adobe announced that Air will in fact be hitting the Android Market on the rumored release date.

What’s so great about AIR?

Adobe Air allows you to publish ActionScript 3 projects to run as a native application (apk.) for the Android OS. Air will give developers the power to write new code or reuse existing web content when building new AIR applications. Having a reusable source code and assets across other flash run times, Adobe Air, or Flash Player allows developers to target other mobile and desktop environments easier.

A word from the chief architect for BlogRadio, Bruce Hopkins

“It took about four days for us to make the AIR Android version, and 1/2 of those days were spent getting up to speed with the Android tools.

“Code reuse? You bet. Both the desktop and mobile clients use the same interfaces and api calls to interact with server-side infrastructure (which includes our web services platform and our FMS 3.5 servers).

“Two different clients and one server interface; we love AIR!”
