It is truly an amazing milestone but not a surprising one. Adobe Flash has hit the million download mark for Android.
The Flash player was launched as a Beta back in May and the official release was few short weeks ago in August and I’d imagine Adobe is loving every second of it. Naturally, Flash on a PC is far more efficient but that certainly won’t deter anyone from wanting to have access to Flash content on their Android device. But have no fear, this is only the beginning and Flash should continue to improve.
Android devices are becoming more powerful almost weekly. This type of growth will only allow Flash for Android to take advantage of those resources and really show off. Also, the experience can change from site to site. Some Flash sites are coded well an run just as well. Others, not so much, you can pick those out easily by the message “video not optimized for mobile.”
Tablets should be a real proving ground for Flash on mobile devices. Adobe has been working diligently on Flash for mobile and will certainly continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
A toast to Adobe for the success of a million downloads.
