Delayed: HTC Desire HD, Z snagged by "Google Testing"

Would-be HTC users who pre-ordered a Desire HD or Desire Z just received some disappointing news.  The new smartphones, which were originally supposed to ship on October 6th, are delayed due to Google testing.  The above is an email from Super E-Trader received from a poster on xda-developers.  Super E-Trader is a UK on-line electronics vendor.

Per the email, HTC delayed delivery until October 11th, and is now giving an October 25th date.  Customers at Amazon UK reported a similar delay on both HTC Desire handsets.  Note the new Amazon dates below: November 15th for the Desire HD, and November 1st for the Desire Z.  (Click photo for a larger, more readable version.)

The relevant part of the delay, according to the email at the top, is that “both units have failed last minute Google TA (Type Approval) testing which is exactly what was said about the original Desire days before release!  Other posters on xda-developers have been reporting similar delays depending on location.
