Android Market Explodes
The recent inclusion of countries that can now buy paid apps plus the countries from which developers can now sell paid apps is the biggest seismic shift since the app market first opened its doors. From Argentina to Taiwan and Australia to Norway developers across the globe can make it worth their while developing apps in the hope of making a living.
I could go into great detail about the sheer numbers of people that this represents and present you a long list but the fact that India alone has a population of over 1,000,000,000 people portrays perfectly the massive change in scale that the market will now undergo and this move is indicative of Google’s international ambitions. Evolution of the Smartphone
Indian company Videocon have kept away from the smartphone market up until now but take a look at the Zeus Evolve (pictured) a neat-ish 1.6 Android handset with a 3.2 inch screen, 600Mhz of oomph and the promise of 2.1 soon. It looks nice though and you can guarantee it won’t break the bank.
No connection
Now these two are not related I promise you. China Telecom are bringing out a 7 inch, 800 x 600 px Android tablet called the Lifepad A800 just after the announcement that the Japanese made LuvPad AD100 will be delayed by a few more weeks. We covered the Luvpad a while back and it was set to be the first of its kind in that neck of the woods but no longer. It really is just a bizarre coincidence.
The FroYo-YoYo
One minute Froyo is due for T-Mobile UK’s Samsung Galaxy S customers, the next its not. Currently its not but that could easily change in the next few weeks or even days. Or not.
Vodafone UK get it right
Vodafone UK are set to bring the lovely HTC Desire HD to the UK very soon. A good move but knowing Slodafone there’s a strong chance that it’ll come bogged down with bloatware or installed in Greek. Or both.
