Jon Reynolds, founder of SwiftKey developer TouchType, was recently interviewed in the Evening Standard on his thoughts of the current status of text input in mobile phones. Not really much of a fun article subject but there was some information that will make future Android Phone users quite happy. The SwiftKey application will be coming pre-loaded on Android Phones. Here’s the chunk where it states this:
It recently released SwiftKey, an app for Android-operated phones, and will have its software embedded into a number of phone models due for release in time for Christmas.
This application will only come preloaded on Android phones though, because Apple and Microsoft don’t let consumers install their own custom keyboards. Another little tidbit of information that Reynolds was happy to reveal is that SwiftKey has been downloaded over 55,000 times, which is quite impressive seeing that the application costs $3.99 and is also available to try for free for two weeks.
