Verizon's EVO 4G Lookalike, The HTC Mecha, Spotted Using LTE

It’s almost upon us, Verizon’s answer to Sprint’s EVO 4G.  This one being called the HTC Mecha, Incredible HD to some of you.  A careful study of this blurry photo shows us a 4.4 inch screen, Android 2.2, and a tiny 4G icon in the status bar.  Who’s getting pumped?

Testers have said the Mecha is pulling 9 Mbps down and 5 Mbps up on the network Verizon hopes to wow 110 million users with by the end of the year.  Verizon also has said they have about a half dozen phones and tablets in the works that will take advantage of their LTE 4G network.

We are hoping to see HTC’s new sense UI when this is finally released.  I also think that Mecha is a code name for testing purposes and this will eventually land in the Droid family as the Droid Incredible HD.

This looks to be an exciting time to be with Big Red.  While only a short amount of time is left in that “by the end of the year” window, Verizon may just be big enough to pull it off.  What do you think?  Can Verizon do it? Are you holding out to get the first Verizon LTE 4G phone? Give us some feedback in the comments below.
