Gingerbread Comes to Original Droid and HTC Incredible

Like Santa’s elves, the good folks over at XDA-Developers are working overtime to bring goodies this Christmas. And the goodies they’re bringing come in the form of Gingerbread for the Motorola Droid and the HTC Droid Incredible.

XDA user, r2DoesInc had this to say on XDA’s forums:

Who ever said we need verizon? Or even htc? When theres something that needs to be done, we do it…and we do it better than anyone else. Im proud to present the first version of the Gingerbread OS ever released for the HTC Incredible.

The ROM for the Incredible is about 100% with only video recording and GPS not fully functioning yet. The ROM for the Droid is fairly stable, but currently lacking any of the normally installed Google apps.

Take a look at the ROM for the Incredible in action:

It should go without saying, but you’ll need to be rooted in order to install any of these ROMs, and while the folks at XDA are generally pretty good, there’s always a chance of something going terribly wrong with a particular device so be forewarned. So far, however, most users say that there is a definite performance boost especially on the slower Motorola Droid.

Have you tried either of these ROMs out? If so, what are your thoughts?
