Android Devices aren't the Only Thing Running Android Apps

The Android Market is growing exponentially these days. New devices are showing up and new apps seem to be popping up out of nowhere. But the latest advancement with the Android Market is that some apps are showing up and running on BlackBerry devices.

The first big new about this topic was when RIM was overheard saying that the Playbook (BlackBerry’s tablet) can run Android applications. Well it turns out, it’s more than just the Playbook.

ShopSavvy, a mobile application developer for Android has released some of their logs, showing some interesting facts. A few models of BlackBerry have been shown to run Shopsavvy’s price saving application. The BlackBerry 8300, 8600, and 8520 have all installed the Shopsavvy application.

Shopsavvy’s servers showed that these devices all ran the application from Ontario, Canada. Yes, this is the same Ontario, Canada that (drumroll please) RIM is headquartered.

It’s tough to say whether RIM itself is running Android on their devices, or some cross-platform fan is just so happened to be located in Ontario. But it sure looks like Android is taking over the mobile universe, one device at a time.
