It looks like Archos is adding another device to the ever-growing line up of eReaders currently in the market. Just released to the FCC is the Archos 70c Android powered eReader. This reader is running the Android 2.1 operating system, allowing for the use of web browsing, apps, and media playback (just to name a few).
For the gear-heads, the 70c is running Android 2.1 (as previously stated), boasting a 7 inch resistive touchscreen. A 600 Mhz processor and 4 GBs of internal memory round out the specs of the hardware. An additional SD card slot is prevalent for those of you requiring more than just 4 GB of storage space.
Will this eReader be able to compete with the Kindle or the Nook? Well that’s for you to decide. The full android 2.1 that it’s running only allows for a short 10 hour battery life between charges, but the ability to run full android apps will be a plus.
