As of late, it seems American wireless providers are trying to push customers away with every move (well, mainly Verizon Wireless with their cancellation of New Every 2 and changing the return policy from a month to 14 days; and AT&T with their data plan changes, effectively taking away unlimited data and making it more expensive for the heavy users).
Now, Android Police have gotten an email from Let’s Talk stating that AT&T will be halting their ability to sell AT&T phones starting March 8th. Supposedly it’s a move that’s aimed at reducing costs, but the real reason is most likely the fact that if AT&T can get customers into their stores to buy phones, they will end up paying the standard prices in stores and not getting a heavy discount via online retailer instead.
This is definitely something that could hurt their image with the public as they are completely stripping away a customer’s choice to buy the phones from other sales outlets. This is also one of those things that sends the interwebs in a craze; people could possibly start bashing AT&T for another reason other than their relatively unreliable network. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Any of you surprised or upset by this decision? Would this deter you from AT&T and towards another wireless carrier?
