Coming through the grapevine now is the rumor that Verizon just approved a subsidized price of $599 on a two-year contract, instead of the full price of $799 for the Motorola XOOM. The savings of $200 does sound attractive, but just remember you are tied in for two years. The way tablets are coming out so quickly, there could be something better at a better deal within months. Remember, you can also use Wi-Fi, and most smartphones now can create a Wi-Fi hotspot.
There’s no news yet of a Wi-Fi only version, but I’m sure it will be available soon if folks aren’t buying the XOOM at the huge price-tag of $799.
While we’re on the topic of tablets, the Galaxy Tab price is dropping to $299.
I’d love to hear all readers comments if the lower price on contract of the XOOM will make the tablet more attractive for you go out and grab one. Let’s get a discussion going. Tablets are the hot topic right now.
