With Sony planning to release its tablet codenamed S1, Sony Ericsson have some surprises too. At the TDIA booth in MWC 2011, Sony Ericsson’s Android-based 4G tablet was announced. The tablet is still a prototype and was spotted by NieuweMobiel. The TD-LTE 4G (used by China Mobile) badge was seen at the bottom on the left hand side of the screen. China Mobile is the carrier Sony Ericsson has teamed up with in developing this tablet. It features a 3.0 megapixel front-facing camera and the touchscreen may be sized between 6 to 7 inches.
TDIA claims that the prototype is powered by Android with no specific version mentioned. The TD-LTE was also spotted in Germany which means the device is not just meant for the Chinese market. Although all the specifications are unknown, the tablet also features a resistive touchscreen with a bulk casing.
This tablet might never show up for release but this prototype could be a test device which seems to be a good thing. With these efforts taken by Sony Ericsson, some tablet surprises can be expected for the future..
