Moto Milestone X First Landing: Kentucky's Bluegrass Cellular

Of all the places that you would expect to find the Droid X when it isn’t dressing up as a Star Wars robot, Bluegrass Cellular — a regional provider based in Kentucky — may be the last. Instead, they will be the first to get the device simply known as the Motorola Milestone X.  (Does this sound familiar?  You may remember the Motoroi X, which was also a DX in costume, being released in Mexico.)

You’ll find that from a hardware standpoint, it’s a virtual clone of the Droid X without the Droid branding. The 1 GHz CPU, the 512 MB RAM, the 8 MB ROM, the generous 4.3 inch screen… that’s all the same.  There is one minor difference, however; instead of Froyo, the Milestone X will ship with Android 2.1 (Eclair), with no word on a future update.

The website for Bluegrass Cellular simply has a “coming soon” banner to mark the launch of what I imagine to be their flagship phone, so it’s only a guess as to an exact launch date.

You can find more information on Bluegrass Cellular, and also sign up to be notified when the Milestone X goes on sale here.
