ZTE Introduces Android 'Skate' Smartphone and 'Light' Tablet at MWC

The Second largest telecommunication company in China ZTE (Zhong Xing Telecommunication Equipment Company Limited) is jumping into the mobile phone arena. They held a small press conference to announce their new line of mobile phones and tablets.

Their new smartphone “Skate” will be offering a 4.3 inch screen with a whopping 800 MHz processor, 5 megapixel camera, Adreno GPU and Android 2.3. ZTE is playing it quite safe. It was surprising to see an 800 MHz processor in this smartphone because the majority of the products had a 1GHz or 1.2GHz processor. This brings me to their tablets.

The “Light” series of tablet had a bit more to offer. Light Tablet had a 1 GHz processor with a 7 inch screen. While the Light 2 had a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, WiMax and LTE radios built-in with front and rear facing camera.  Now that is more like it.

Wrapping up the monumental press conference was the Light 10 that has the same specs of the Light 2 but with a 10 inch screen and running the new Android 3.0.

The press conference was all-in-all pretty standard stuff coming from ZTE.
