T-Mobile Announces Android Sidekick 4G by Samsung Coming this Spring!

Samsung Sidekick 4G on T-Mobile: No Danger Here, Just Android

We knew it was happening nearly 2 months ago, and now, T-Mobile and Samsung have officially announced the Sidekick 4G. The new Sidekick will keep the same form factor, with its “pop-tilt” screen and 5-row keyboard, but will be the first Sidekick to sport a touchscreen.

Other specs of the new phone include a 1 GHz Hummingbird processor, Android OS 2.2 (Froyo), front-facing VGA camera, 3 MP rear camera, 3.5 inch screen, and up to 21 Mbps with 4G connectivity. The new Sidekick will also be featuring a “jump key” to make switching applications easy.

T-Mobile Sidekick 4G, Software Included

Software wise, Samsung and T-Mobile will be introducing group text, which is exactly what it sounds like, and Cloud Text, which allows users to use the Sidekick to text or their computers. It will also come preloaded with Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, T-Mobile TV, Samsung’s Media Hub, which will allow users to rent or purchase movies or TV shows right on the phone through carrier billing, and DriveSmart, which aims to curb texting while driving.

It will come in either black or pink and will only be available on T-Mobile.

Powered by Android 2.2 (Froyo) and a speedy 1 GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird processor, so consumers can keep up with their favorite blogs while on the move, search for the must-try dinner spots and map the way to their next destination – all at blazing fast speeds.
