Photoshop Touch Software Developers Kit: Imagine what you could Touch

Adobe may be taking its grand old time with building a competent version of Flash for its mobile and tablet loving users, but that doesn’t mean they are not moving full steam ahead in other areas.

Today they announced they are entering the tablet space in a big way with its Photoshop Touch SDK which will:

“allow developers worldwide to create mobile and tablet applications that interact with Adobe® Photoshop CS5 and Photoshop CS5 extended software, uniting the fun and interactive experience of touch devices with the power and precision of Photoshop. The Photoshop touch SDK and a new scripting engine in Photoshop CS5 now opens the door for Androidâ„¢, BlackBerry Tablet OS and iOS apps to drive and interact with Photoshop on the desktop.”

Adobe bringing Photoshop to the mobile computing space shows how far the different platforms have come on lately. It signals the strength of the market (or at least how much it is growing).

Developers can access the free SDK from here with Adobe’s Creative Suite being upgraded to version 5.5.

Adobe themselves have also announced three apps they have created for iOS (no word on Android) that will be worth checking out to see what kind of applications you could create. This Macworld article has an in-depth look but I will outline the basics.

Adobe Eazel is a finger painting app
Adobe Nav is productivity app allowing you to control Photoshop tools on your tablet.
