We have been hearing the rumors about the Nexus S coming to Canada for a while now, and we finally have a pretty good idea of what the will cost be.
First up is Mobilicity. They appear to be selling Google’s new flagship, the Samsung Nexus S, for a pretty fine outright price of $499.99. It looks like sales will begin April 7.
Next, we have TELUS. They also seem to be selling these devices starting April 7. $550 for no-contract, $500 on a 1-year, $450 on a 2-year, and a promo cost of $180 for a 3-year contract.
Then, there is Rogers. The pricing on Rogers is $500 for no-contract, $450 for 1-year, $400 for 2-year, and $350 for a 3-year. Their 3-year promo comes to $100 if you get voice and data plans.
There is also a rumor going around that Videotron will be getting the Nexus S on April 7 as well for $529.95 no-contract and $149.95 on a “Reduced price”. The Future Shop forum states “Rogers and Fido Samsung Nexus S units will be available this weekend (April 8th). TELUS and Koodo Samsung Nexus S will be available next weekend. Not all stores will carry all carriers, visit your local Future Shop store for details.” Aside from those mentioned already in the article, the Nexus S is allegedly coming to Bell, Fido and WIND as well.
The Nexus S is of course the first Android 2.3 Gingerbread phone. It is a Google Experience device, meaning that it is a stock Android device. Android, how Google meant it to be. If the past is anything to go on, the Google Experience devices will also be first to get updates as there is no carrier intermediary. It just comes straight from Google.
It seems that this is an exciting time for the Nexus S in Canada. Are you getting one? Tell us about it in the comments.
