Android 4.0 & Sense 4.0
HTC has had a couple of devices leak recently from their Q1 2012 road map the quad-core power house HTC Edge and the super thin HTC Ville. While the Edge looks to destroy all other devices in its path the Ville will be a more subdued mid-tier device by the time of its rumored April 2012 release date. Instead of the quad-core Tegra 3 the Ville comes with the familiar 1.5Ghz dual core Snapdragon that will power the recently announced HTC Rezound.
With a 4.3″ qHD Super AMOLED display, HTC’s f/2.2 8MP camera, and Beats Audio integration it will be a very credible performer packed into a super thin 8mm package. As it is HTC’s first device built specifically for Ice Cream Sandwich it will be their first device without capacitive touch hardware buttons and will rely on the built-in on-screen navigation of the new Android. We have yet to see how Sense will be adapted to ICS, but it is reported to be updated to version 4.0 on the Ville.
While the HTC Ville sounds like a powerhouse right now, by April next year we will be seeing a new breed of devices like the Tegra 3 HTC Edge. The Galaxy Nexus and the HTC Rezound both feature full 720p HD displays and it does seem kind of odd that HTC decided to revert back to qHD after making the leap up in screen resolution. It seems that they chose form over function on this device and the thin metal shell did not allow for them to incorporate NFC or LTE as the device is set today. It will however support HSPA+, have a 1650mAh battery, and ship with a quality pair of Beats headphones. What do you guys think is this built for Ice Cream Sandwich device on your list to check out come upgrade time?
