Featured: Samsung to Unveil the "Next Galaxy" Phone on May 3rd

We’ve heard rumors after rumors after the release date of the Galaxy S3 and we’ve seen plenty of photo leaks of how the Galaxy S3 is supposed to look like. But now this one isn’t a rumor anymore, and we finally have the official launch date for the “next Galaxy” phone. That date is May 3rd, and the device is supposed to be unveiled at their event in London in that day.

The image above suggests the next Galaxy phone will come in different colors, at least 2 of them: a darker blue and a matte white, both looking like they’re on a brushed metal case. The image also suggests that the phone may have nano-coating that protects the whole device from being affected by water. So they will probably promote this device as being water-proofed as well, but in a much nicer looking body than something like the Motorola Defy.

Nothing from this announcement confirms any other rumor, like the one that it will have a quad core Exynos chip, or a 720p Super AMOLED Plus display, but those are pretty predictable by now. I just hope Samsung will also have the foresight to include an S-pen with it, which is becoming a very popular accessory.

The only problem is it’s not an optional accessory for all Samsung’s mobile devices right now. It would be smart of them to at least make the S-pen work with all their devices. I think drawing on these devices and signing or writing on them will only become more popular, and  Samsung is leading the pack here with the best such pen for capacitive screens. Hopefully they also keep improving both their displays and their pens to become even more accurate in the future.
