It seems that Sprint should be receiving a new high-end device from LG this fall in the form of LG LS970 – I assume that Sprint’s marketing will come up with something a little more exciting than that come launch time.
The source has said the codename for the device is actually ‘G’ – yeah, good one guys – the clue of it coming to Sprint comes thanks to the LSxxx model number as there the only carrier to use these codes. The device itself appears to be similar to the LG Nitro HD launched last year on AT&T. Internal specs seem to comprise of a quad-core running at 1.5Ghz (not a bad clip if you ask me) as well as a 4.7″ HD display. That’s all that’s really known for now, I don’t think it’d be too much of a surprise if the display turned out to be a True HD IPS from LG – something certainly to look forward to if it does. Once again we see Android 4.0 as standard here, I’d say that no manufacturer would be silly enough to launch a gingerbread device this late on in the year.
The real surprise – if any – about this tip-off is that there’s LTE onboard, coupled with a quad core processor. We’ve not seen that before, in fact manufacturers have been turning to the infamous Snapdragon S4 from Qualcomm for there LTE devices. We haven’t seen anything from TI with a revamp of their OMAP range for some time and as such it’d be fitting for this to have a new OMAP5 quad-core in it as LG have tended to go with TI processors in the past.
