Apple has been going at it with various Android smartphone and tablet manufacturers over numerous patent disputes and issues, and the company was planning on going after the Samsung Galaxy S III, stating that it infringed upon two of their patents. The first patent covers unified search while the other covers a “system and method for performing an action on a structure in computer-generated data”, the same patent that they went after HTC over which delayed the release of the EVO 4G LTE and One X for a few weeks.
Unfortunately for the tech giant, their attempt to block the Galaxy S III has been delayed which means the new smartphone will launch in the US on June 21st, on schedule. Reasons for the delay is mostly timing. U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh said to get a court order to block the phone by the 21st of this month would overload her calendar. While this may be good news for Samsung, it definitely doesn’t mean things are over between the two tech companies.
Since there is a delay, that means they’ll still be in court, just in July rather than this month. Of course, there’s always the potential that Apple ends up getting the Samsung Galaxy S III banned from sale in the US after the launch which, no matter how you look at it, still isn’t good. I mean, they did get two of HTC’s latest smartphones held up for a few weeks under pretty much the same disputes.
Apple has no mercy and they will not stop until everyone stops using their designs and ideas. Or are they actually not the original creators? Until the patent system is restructured, these kinds of legal battles will continue to be a common occurrence.
