Chrome, easily one of the best browsers on the market and quickly gaining traction having recently surpassed Firefox on the desktop, had made it over to Android earlier this year. Only for Android 4.0 devices and up, it brings the multi-tabbed interface that users are accustomed to, as well as syncing options to get access to the same data as on your desktop browser. It’s been in beta for several months, but today it finally leaves the B word behind, and is now marked as stable.
If you have an Android 4.0 device, you can pick it up right here from the Play Store. Chrome also received some important performance and stability fixes, as one would hopefully expect. There’s also some adjustments to the user interface, nothing extreme, though is said to look better especially on tablets. The Google Chrome releases blog also told people to stay tuned for information on other release channels of Chrome.
Similar to how the desktop version of Google Chrome has multiple different channels, stable, beta, dev, and Canary, maybe we’ll see something similar along these lines for mobile devices.
Google has a lot of catching up to do in terms of a rock solid version of Chrome for Android smartphones and tablets, some would say they should have made this move years ago, but it’s good to see them putting in a solid effort of getting it on mobile.
