Firefox has long been known as a good and reliable browser. In fact, for a while there, Firefox was the number two browser in the World and a significantly better alternative to the disaster of Internet Explorer. Okay, the newer versions of IE are far better than its predecessors, but back in the day, moving from that to Firefox, was a night and day difference.
Mozilla has had Firefox available on mobile as well, just Android with no plans of releasing on iOS. Today, the team launched version 14 which has a number of improvements and some new features. Right out of the gate, the speed has been improved. Many have complained about the browser taking too long to load once you fire it up and that’s supposedly been improved as well. Mozilla even claims that it’s twice as fast as the stock Android browser according to their benchmarks and testing.
There are also better syncing options built-in where you can see all your bookmarks, history, and passwords and form data that were synced from the desktop browser. And for those who want Flash in a mobile browser, that has also made its way to Firefox 14. Lastly, new HTML5 capabilities are also onboard.
Firing up the browser for the first time, you can definitely noticed the speed improvement. I went to a few random websites and they loaded without any hitches. With the syncing options similar to Chrome, Firefox 14 looks to be a worthy contender in the mobile browser category.
