Featured: Google Nexus 10 May Already Be Under Way According To Rumor

This week at Google I/O, easily one of the biggest announcements was the Nexus 7, a quad core powered 7 inch tablet that’ll run you just $199, $249 for a 16GB version. A 7 inch tablet seems to hit a sweet spot for consumers, especially around the $200 price point. For people wanting the next and best electronics, $200 is an easy impulse buy for a lot of people. Not everyone, but many.

With it being just a few days since the Nexus 7 was announced, the rumor mill is already starting up on the next tablet carrying the Google Nexus name. Digitimes claims that Google has placed an order for 10 inch touch panels from company Wintek. The tech giant had purchased 500,000 touch panels from Wintek also for the Nexus 7 tablet and something tells us that they’ll need more and more to keep up with demand.

To have a 10 inch tablet, that would put it into iPad territory and one must think: If Google is going to take on the 7 inch tablet market, why not take on the 10 inch tablet market as well? With the many changes and new features in Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, there’s a lot of potential to create a really great product. We can yap about fragmentation all day, but with what we’ve seen since the introduction of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, smartphones and tablets are evolving into a much more solid product with a great user experience.

So a 10 inch tablet from Google doesn’t sound too farfetched. We’ll see how everything stacks up in the coming weeks and months.
